Records from the Royal English Archives state that during the black plague in the 16th Century a band of thieves would break into the houses of plague victims to steal money and jewellery from the victims, without falling ill with the disease although it was highly contagious.
It transpired later they were from a family of perfumers who coated their bodies with lavender oil for protection from the deadly bacteria.
A town in England called Bucklersbury was spared the black plague due to the fact it was the centre of the European lavender trade.
The inhabitants would apply the scented lavender oil to protect themselves from the plague.

LAVENDER RECIPES
Pamper your skin and relax your mind with this quick and easy recipe for a soothing nourishing body scrub. Most of the ingredients you might already have in the kitchen.
Oats are soothing for dry sensitive skin and olive oil is very moisturising.
SENSITIVE SKIN BODY SCRUB
Ingredients:
1 cup oats
1/2cup sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
4-6 drops lavender essential oil (no more than 10 drops)
Directions.
Mix all ingredients into a bowl and use in the shower by applying in circular motions to dampened skin. Rinse off, pat dry and apply your normal moisturizer. Skin will feel super soft.
Store any left over covered in fridge and use within one day.
Use this very easy DIY linen and pillow spray to calm down and drift off to a restful sleep with the calming and relaxing scent of lavender.
HOME MADE LAVENDER LINEN SPRAY
Ingredients:
2 cups distilled water
2 Tablespoons vodka or rubbing alcohol
15 drops lavender
A couple of dried lavender sprigs
Directions:
Combine all ingredients is a glass spray bottle.
Shake well and spritz a couple sprays to breathe in the wonderful aroma to quieten the mind, relax the body and calm the spirit.
